Tri-Force Training Center is honored to host a seminar run by the BJJ legend and 9th degree black belt, Carlos Machado on February 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM. When we say we’re honored, it’s actually an understatement, but the English language just doesn’t have the words to express how special this is to us. Carlos Machado is a true pioneer for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and he’s contributed immensely in the popularity of the martial art as it is known today.

Carlos Machado was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and is the eldest of five brothers who have all contributed to the status of the Machado name within martial arts. Carlos began his training under his uncle, Helio Gracie and was later taught by Rolls Gracie, Carlos Gracie Sr, and Carlos Gracie Junior. Being cousins to the infamous Gracie family the Machado’s also shared a strong passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Carlos and his brothers eventually moved to America where they started their own Jiu-Jitsu academies that ultimately led them to becoming the legends they are today.

You don’t just get to the status of legend by opening academies though. Carlos Machado competed regularly during his time in Brazil in the Rio de Janeiro Jiu-Jitsu State and National Championships, which at the time were equivalent to the current BJJ Worlds competitions. He was the middleweight division champion from 1982 – 1993. He also competed in the US winning the Pan American BJJ Championship in 1997-1998 and he won the World Master’s Championship in the year 2000 for both middleweight and open class divisions.

When Carlos Machado moved to the United States he met a man named Chuck Norris who was immediately enthralled with the teachings of Mr. Machado. Chuck helped spread the Machado family legacy and soon the name became synonymous with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Master Machado has also trained many legends within different martial arts including Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, Travis Lutter, Rafael Lovato Jr, and many more.

Carlos Machado and his brothers are the founders of RCJ Machado Jiu-Jitsu, which is one of the fastest growing BJJ affiliate programs in the world. Along with Chuck Norris, owners of Tri-Force Training Center, Pete and Keith Jeffrey received their black belts from Carlos Machado and Tri-Force Training Center is an official RCJ Machado affiliate.
